ECB Update 5/11/2020
Nov 6, 2020, 5:02 pm

COVID-19 Update

Further to our update yesterday, DCMS and Sport England have today released the clarification here on outdoor exercise.

DCMS and Sport England have confirmed that 1:1 coaching is permissible during lockdown in England in a public outdoor space as long as social distancing is maintained. 1:1 Coaching cannot take place with multiple people from one household.

You can still travel to spend time for exercise outdoors, for example to access an open space, but should look to reduce the number of journeys you make and wherever possible, exercise should be done locally.

There’s no limit on the amount of time spent exercising outdoors, or the amount of times per day you exercise outdoors.

Schools are able to work with external coaches, clubs and organisations for curricular activities where they’re satisfied that it’s safe to do so during school hours.

Where schools are offering extra-curricular activities (that is, before and after school clubs) they should only do so where it’s reasonably necessary to support parents to work, search for work, or undertake training or education, or where the provision is being used for the purposes of respite care. Schools should consider carefully how such arrangements can operate within their wider protective measures.

Competition between different schools shouldn’t take place, in line with the wider restrictions on grassroots sport.

Sport and physical education as part of education and training can continue. Outdoor sports should be prioritised where possible, and large indoor spaces used where it’s not. Colleges should maximise distancing between consistent student groups and pay scrupulous attention to cleaning and hygiene and use maximum fresh air ventilation through either opening doors and windows or ventilation systems.

Competition between different colleges shouldn’t take place, in line with the wider restrictions on grassroots sport.

Professional cricket that is classified as elite by the UK Government can continue as an exemption during this period.

Hospitality venues such as cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars and social clubs must close; with the exception of providing food and drink for takeaway (before 10pm; including alcohol), click-and-collect, drive-through or delivery, if purchased and distributed via the following methods: making deliveries in response to orders received, through a website, or otherwise by on-line communication, by telephone, including orders by text message, or by post.

Whilst school sport can continue as an exemption during this period, university sport must be suspended. Coach education programmes can continue where this cannot be undertaken online.

The health and wellbeing of everyone in the cricket community has and remains our number one priority and we are in dialogue with DCMS about how recreational cricket activity can return safely once the national lockdown ends.

Groundsman working on square 4/11/2020
Nov 4, 2020, 10:20 pm

Today our groundsman was working on our square, he has cut the square down with our rotary mower as the grass was getting a bit long, getting ready for the winter the grass coverage is looking really good.

He also aeriated the whole square to a depth of 5” this year, each year it is done a differtent depths which stops a thach layer developing which in turn will decompact the soil and help to have deeper roots, which is good for strong grass.

The holes also allows in nutrients along with water and air which supports good grass development.

Which in turn will give us a good playing surface next season as long as COVID is sorted out (fingers crossed)

Government Update 4/11/2020
Nov 4, 2020, 9:58 pm

Please find below the latest information from the ECB in relation to recent government updates:

As a result of the UK Government’s new national COVID-19 restrictions, and subject to Members of Parliament voting today and the publication of bespoke guidance from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport [DCMS], ECB understands all organised recreational cricket activity indoors and outdoors will be suspended from 5th November until 2nd December in England. Professional cricket that is classified as elite by the UK Government can continue as an exemption during this period.

Hospitality venues such as cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars and social clubs must close; with the exception of providing food and drink for takeaway (before 10pm; and not including alcohol), click-and-collect, drive-through or delivery.

Last Man Standing Fund Raiser
Oct 19, 2020, 7:10 pm

Our first LMS competition only lasted 3 weeks, we were down to 4 members left in and they all went out with their selected teams not winning on the weekend of 12th & 13th October.

So it became a roller over which started again on Saturday 17th October, out of 21 members 18 went out in the first week as the majority of members selected Chelsea to win against West Ham which ended up a 3 - 3 draw.

Only 3 members left in the and the prize pot stands at £420 a nice little sum for someone.

Great fund raiser for our Cricket Club as well as keeping the members in touch with each other.

Well done Chris Harwood for organising this.

If you would like to join for the next LMS competition speak to Chris and he can sort this out.

Club Fund Raiser
Sep 18, 2020, 2:14 pm

Our club is running a Last Man Standing competition organised by Chris Harwood, for the this the first competition Chris managed to get 40 people to join, the entry fee is a one off £10 and you don’t pay anything more until the prize pot is won.

This is basically a competition to pick one Premier League football team from the weekend’s fixtures, your team must win for you to go through to the next round, if not you are out. If your team wins you must pick a different team for the following week’s fixtures and so on until someone wins.

The club takes a cut of the entry fee and the rest is paid out to the winner.

A great way to raise club funds and have something to look forward too, in these testing times, when our club income is very little.

If you would like to be considered for the next game after this one has been won, give Chris a call or contact your Chairman.

Stay safe!!!!!!
