Cricket Square
Oct 2, 2015, 7:55 pm

The new grass is looking good after the area was covered with our 3 germination sheets, which we moved the on Thursday 1st October to another area of the square, hoping the growing weather stays with us a little longer.

We have purchased another 4 sheets and should have them early next week to help boost the grass growth on the rest of the square.

Outstanding jobs and money
Sep 22, 2015, 5:16 pm

Our Chairman/Treasurer still needs to know how many people will come to our event along the names for the horses and the money from the horse sales and from our sponsored races.

We still have outstanding match fees owed to the club from the 2015 season can the captains chase this up ASAP along with their match fee sheets.

The Northumberland side tried their best but were no match against a top top side, the Northumberland team were all out for 152, with Cory top scoring with a lusty 49 including 4 hugh sixes one of which hit the club house first floor windows.

First lose in a high scoring match
Sep 8, 2015, 8:06 pm

Saturday 5th September saw our first X1 entertain Clara Vale CC, we won the toss on a windy cold day and elected to bat on a great looking batting track, we lost both our openers early on Jay Little of top scorer from the week before he was out bowled by Iqbal when on 7 and his partner was run out soon after following a mix up saw our captain Chris Harwood out for 1. In to the crease came Michael Adamson first then came Paul Milburn, they build a steady partnership before Michael was out bowled playing across the line to the impressive Mohammed with his score on 29, that was 3 wickets down with not a lot on the score board.

Enter Mathew Tanney he and Paul put on a good partnership of 100 with some nice stroke play along with some powerful shots. Matthew was next man out on 47 when he played on trying to cut. Into the crease came Cory Milburn to bat with his dad. Cory hit some big shots along with some controlled drives, both the Millburn’s ran well till dad started to tire and he was out bowled by Iqbal when on 93, his top score of the season. Cory continued pushing the ball around until he was out on 45. We eventually finished with 253 for 8, a good score or so we thought, as you never know how Clara will go.

Clara’s run chase went off like a train with 6’s being dispatched all-round the ground especially to cow corner, Iqbal was the main culprit only after he saw his opening partner lose his wicket off the second ball of the match to the bowling of Greaves, Iqbal rushed along to 44 before being out caught by Maddison off Richards bowling. The big hitting did not stop there Seed hit 47, M Rehan hit a quick fire 69 and S Amin 36, saw Clara reach the target, they scored the winning run off the first ball of the 49 over. That meant that over 500 runs scored on a dream track for the batters but a hard working wicket for the bowlers.

Our bowling Dean Greaves 2 for 37, Cory Milburn 1 for 60, James Richards 2 for 57, Scott Maddison 4 for 47 and Graham Whitworth 0 for 44.

Clara won by one wicket with their score on 257 for 9.

Ashington Rugby CC 9 points Clara Vale CC 29 Points.

Our 2nd X11 was away to Second placed Bates Cottages, we batted first and posted a healthy 190 for 4, Kevin Hetherington hit 60 not out, Craig Jobson a quick fire 38 not out, Ryan Pringle scored 31 and Steve Henderson hit 19. Bates run chase was led by R Elliott who scored 70 Bates were all out for 155, David Wanless Jnr took 4 for 36 with the ball, Ryan Pringle 2 wickets, Steven Henderson 2 wickets, Trevor Elliott and David Wanless Snr took 1 a piece.

We won by 35 runs Bates Cottages CC 5 points Ashington Rugby CC 29 points
