The game against Bomarsund CC saw our 1st team extend their scoring record to 7 consecutive games of a score of over 200 runs, with their 254 for 6. Led by Captain Chris Harwood with his great knock of 95. 

Saturday 27^th June (Fancy Dress Day) saw the Bomar make the short travel to the “REC” to play our 1^st Team, on a warm day we won the toss and elected to bat, a big thumbs up from our players. Our captain Chris Harwood and Stu Rosser opened up and steadily built a partnership which moved on to 100 in no times at all and by the drinks break we had 121 on the board from 25 overs. Our first wicket down was Stu who scored 42 before being caught by Mathews off the bowling of Robinson.

In came Adam Peacock who has been our best bat this season and we all had high hopes for another big score, however out hopes were dashed when he last 4 balls for a duck he was caught behind by Mathews off the bowling of Mollon. Chris had breezed past 50 and looked in good nick and was very disappointed to be out 5 runs short of his century, fantastic knock which put the team in a great position to push on And this we did Michael Adamson score 20, Dean Hardy hit a fine 35 not out, Jay Little a quick fire 18 in our total of 254 for 6. Bomar’s wicket takers were C. Mollon 3 for 58, L. Bessford 1 for 35, D. Robinson 1 for 48 and S. Thornton 1 for 37.

In reply Bomar were shuck up when opening Bowler Cory Milburn hit Colin Thornton on the helmet with his very first delivery, not long later was Colin caught by Peacock off Cory Milburn for 6. He struck again not long after when he dismissed Purvis clean bowled for 5. This brought S. Thain and N. Straker to the crease and they built a good partnership before the loss of Straker LBW by Maddison on 29 and the same bowler removed Bomar’s main man Thain for 62 caught by Whitworth on the boundary, Thain played his normal game and hit some very clean boundaries in his total, the Rugger boys were pleased to see the back of him as he looked set for a big score, once he went the Rugger boys kept taking wickets regularly and the bowler who did the damage was Scott Maddison with his spin bowling , he took 5 for 21, Cory Milburn 2 for 28, James Richards 2 for 42 and Graham Whitworth 1 for 38. Bomar were all out for 161 the Rugger Boys winning by 93 runs, this win lifts us to second place in the Premier League.

In the reverse fixture our 2^nd team was away to Bomarsund 2nds, Bomar won the toss and elected to bat they had former Rugger boy Graeme Pattinson opening the bat and he continued his good recent form hitting 64 and Chris Scott another former Rugger boy hitting 33. Our bowling our main wicket taker was captain David Wanless Jnr who took 3 for 29. Bomar finished their 40 over on 178 for 7.

Our run chase was steady with captain Wanless Jnr top scoring with 49 not out with the other lads chipping in we eventually won the game scoring 179 for 5 a great win chasing a good score, well done lads that gives us a double over our near neighbours. It also stabilises our second place in Division 2.

1st team breaks another club record as they hit their 6th consecutive score of over 200 runs in the Premier Division with their 221 for 9 against Clara Vale CC on Saturday 20th June 2015.

Saturday 20^th June saw our 1^st team travel to Clara Vale for our Premier league clash; we had a number of player’s unavailable including 2 key players our top run scorer and number 3 bat Adam Peacock and Captain Chris Harwood our opening bat. On a very green track and an overcast day we lost the toss and were asked to bat (no surprise there).

We lost Stu Rosser early caught by Liaquat bowled Mohammed for 3, Dean Hardy looked in good nick up till he cut a ball to the cover fielder for 17.Michael Adamson and Paul Milburn build a partnership for the next wicket steadily scoring runs before the rain came, after the break Paul fell cutting a ball back onto his stumps for 33, Michael was also bowled playing across the line when on 47 great knock. Cory Milburn started to push the runs along with some big hitting he scored 35 bowled by Mohammed. Our tale end wagged with Scott Maddison scoring 21 and James Richards 26, they ran quick between the wickets picking up runs and frustrating Clara at the same time. We ended up 221 for 9 off our rain affected reduced 47 overs, great effort with 2 key batsmen missing.

Our bowling was on song and we only used 2 bowlers, Dean Greaves and stand in Captain Cory Milburn. Dean as normal was swinging the ball which caused the dangerous Clara lads all sorts of problems and with Cory bowling quickly at the other end it gave Clara no break to attack our bowling. Dean took 5 wickets for 15 runs in his spell, 2 bowled, 2 LBW and 1 caught, Cory took 4 wickets for 23 in his spell the last 2 wickets fell in 2 balls, he bowled 3 and had 1 caught. Clara Vale CC was all out for 43 runs.

We won by 178 runs, this win lifted the team to 3^rd place in the Northumberland Cricket League Premier Division.

Our 2^nd team welcomed Bates Cottages CC to the “REC” with a very depleted team, we bowled first and things did not look god after 20 overs Bates were 109 for 0, until Steven Henderson came on to bowl and his swing caused the Bates boys problems from the offset. Steven took 7 wickets for 24 runs in no time at all alone with David Wanless Snr who took the other 3 wickets for 12 runs. Bates finished 156 all out.

Our bating struggled which we expected with the club having 9 players unavailable, we scored 56 all out, not a bad effort when we only had 5 players on Thursday and we did well to get a team out on the pitch.

Adam Peacock is smashing 1st team records for our club with his batting he has now hit 6 scores of 50 plus in consecutive weeks, these scores were 95, 86, 134, 51, 81, and 128 what an achievement. This put's him top of the league run table with 629 runs with an average of 69.89 runs and we are still 2 games before the half way point in the season.

Saturday 13^th June saw table toppers Bates Cottages CC turn up at the “REC” for our 1^st team clash. We batted first on a good looking deck, with Chris Harwood and new opening partner Stu Rosser getting the game underway. Stu was first to fall LBW to Baston and Chris followed shortly after with the same fate LBW by Telford with a hint of a big inside edge onto the pad, Chris scored 17 and Stu 13, in came the man of the moment Adam Peacock who last week broke a batting record for the club with 5 consecutive 50 plus scores, he did not disappoint he played himself in and like normal he built his innings with some fantastic shots, his 50 came with a big 6. With Adam at one end the rugger boys were batting around him, Dean Hardy scored a steady 23 and the others chipped in around him, Adam finished bowled by Elliott after scoring 128 his second hundred of the season and his 6 consecutive 50 plus score.

We ended up with 240 for 9 from our 50 overs, another record for the club our 5^th consecutive score of over 200 not a bad feat when you consider the large size of our ground.

Bates Cottages CC set about the score and was going along fine until Cory Milburn bowled M. Golightly on 21 and then he ran our G. Turnbull for 32 throwing and hitting direct form the long on boundary (canny shot). The man of the season for Bates up to now R. Symington was our LBW bowled by spinner Scott Maddison on 27. We had a few rain breaks and the disturbed the game, however following on from last week the Rugger boys kept at it and had Bates 157 for 5 off 38 overs when the rain came and stopped the game for good.   Leaving the ruggers boys looking to the sky and asking why 2 weeks in a row when we were looking good the rain came and stopped the game, Bates needed 87 runs from 12 overs needing 6.92 runs per over, with only 5 wickets remaining.

Our 2^nd team were due to play Clara Vale away but the home side conceded not able to filed a team, shame for our boys as they were playing well sitting second top of Division 2 with 193 points.

We had 2 members playing for the county Dean Greaves and Paul Milburn, both did their bit in securing a win for Northumberland.

Northumberland Over 50's were playing Cheshire at Stocksfield on Wednesday 10th June it was a red hot day on a good wicket. We won the toss and elected to bat. 

Dean bowled 7 overs taking 3 wickets for 18 runs and Paul hit 40 as Northumberland set a target of 290 for 5 off 45 overs. Cheshire were eventually bowled out for 241 with a few overs to spare.

Saturday 6^th June saw the 1^st team at home versus Blyth, we won the toss and obviously elected to bat on an excellent looking track on a windy and overcast day. We started well with a few loose deliveries which was despatched to the boundary. Our openers C. Harwood scored 18 before falling LBW to Smith and M. Adamson was caught by Roberts off Smith’s bowling. In came the man of the moment A. Peacock who was looking to build on his 4 previous consecutive 50 plus scores, which he did with stylish 81 before being caught and bowled by Lawrence, with a delivery he was just too quick on and ended hitting it straight back down the wicket to the bowler. Other scores of note was D. Hardy 25, P. Milburn 18 and G. Whitworth 14, we ended up 205 all out with a few balls left in the final over.

Blyth’s run chase started briskly with Dent attacking our bowling. Dean Greaves took the first wicket of Pruma LBW for 0, he was bowling a very good spell of swing bowling which Blyth found hard to either defend or attack. His next wicket was the start of a great over for the Rugger Boys. He trapped C. Smith LBW for 9 and in came A. Clark who lasted 1 ball he was also trapped LBW this brought Blyth’s captain M. Lawrence to the wicket to try to prevent the hat trick with a number of players around the bat Dean bowled another peach trapping Lawrence right in front of all three and was given out. Dean fell to his knees with joy not only for his Hat trick but removing three important players.

Then came the first of 3 rain breaks which we lost 1 hour in time and that meant we had to try to get through our 50 overs in 2 hours which is no mean feat. We eventually removed D. Dent for 40 LBW by Whitworth. We then decided to bowl quickly through our overs mainly trying to take wickets for bonus points as Blyth were well behind the run chase with G. Quinn and A. Rowell holding a rear guard action to hold together the Blyth innings. We mixed up our bowlers off shortened run ups and we got very close we were in our 49 over when informed by the umpires that time was up so close yet so far away Blyth finished on 141 for 7. Our players were really down with putting in so much of an effort only to be thwarted by the weather and the time. Great effort by all the Rugger boys.

In summary the weather prevent us winning 5 games on the bounce, on a positive note that is the 4th consecutive game we have scored over 200 runs, Dean Greaves Hat Trick, Adam Peacock broke another club record his 5^th consecutive 50 plus score with his brilliant 81. We stay 3^rd in the league.

Our 2^nd team were away to Blyth and with 9 players unavailable due to work, holidays and injury and 1 no show we ended up playing with only 9 men. Blyth batted first and scored 138 for 7 with D. Carr scoring 60 and David Wanless Snr taking 3 wickets for 47 runs.

Our batting continued our good recent form with Liam Lavery the star 2 weeks running he hit a brilliant 81 not out and Ryan Pringle up the order for our bowler he hit a great 38 not out we ended up winning by scoring 140 for 2. Winning by 8 wickets kept the Rugger boys in 2^nd place in Division 2.
