Scorebox Upgrade

We have completed the improvements to our scorebox with a larger viewing area extended by 3ft, 1st Inns area moved to accommodate viewing area and we have purchased new numbers to match in with our numbered boxes and we have installed improved internal lighting. Just shows that we as a club are allways looking to improve our facilities.

All works was carried out by skilled members of our club.


Poker Night Coming Soon

Following a survey on our website and in partnership with Ashington Rugby Club, there is a joint Poker Night planned for Saturday 10th March with a 7pm start. Ashington Rugby Club has recently purchased 4 new Poker tables, which will accomodate 10 people per table.

The set up is there is no in game betting the buy in is £10 and everyone gets the same set amount of chips, there will be a prize fund for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th places, the prize fund amounts will depending on the number who attend the event.  

The Cricket Club would like a number of our members to attend this event, it's a great night drinks brought to the table by the bar staff so you do not have to leave the your seat. Please pass this onto your friends the more the merrier come along have a drink, game of poker and a laugh and at the same time support the club's. If you are planning to attend please inform your Chairman.

Score Box Upgrades

We have started working on our score box by extending the viewing area for the scorers, the window viewing area frame with sliding glass track has been installed and the glass is on order.

We have ordered some new numbers for the First Innings area to match in with the size of our mechanical numbers.

We are also installing a new 5ft Florescent light to brighten up the scorebox area.

Raffle Tickets

We have been given some tickets from the Rugby Club at no cost to us, they are £1 a ticket with some great prizes, first prize is £10,000 with a total of 38 prizes, for every £1 sold the Cricket club gets 45 pence.

Your chairman has the tickets we are looking at each member taking £5's worth and selling them before the end of February. The chairman is looking to give the books out at the nets on Monday 6th February. If you cannot be bothered to sell them on just buy them yourselves, remember we as a club will make money from this to support our running costs.

Cricket Indoor Nets

Yes it is that time of year again to dust down the gear and test those muscles, our first net is on at Hirst High School on Monday 6th February starting at 8pm till 9.30pm. Remember to bring your subs.

Changing Room Upgrades

Our changing room has seen a few welcomed improvements recently, complete upgrade of the showers and toilets, which was badly needed. We are proud of what our changing rooms look like now and this was all down to working along side the rugby club in chasing grants and other funding streams. Yes it is a lot of work but look at the outcome.

We held our AGM on 17th January in our tea room, with over 70% of our members in attendance. A great deal of discussion took place on various topics all of which are aimed at improving and developing our club.

The Senior Committee were all re-elected and are committed to work/support our club through the coming season.

Our Team Officials for the 2012 season are;

1st Team Capt Dean Greaves, V-Capt Michael Adamson

2nd Team Capt Ian Fox, V-Capt David Wanless (Jnr)

Midweek Team Capt Lewis Tanney, V-Capt Scott Maddison. 

Christmas Day Message

During the festivities we should remember those who are no longer with us and those who are less fortunate than ourselves, then and only then do we realise how lucky we are!
