Dec 8, 2013, 10:10 am Great news for our club following a meeting with K Plastics on Saturday they have agreed to carry on with their sponsorship for the 2014 season. This will take their sponsorship into the 4th consecutive season. Our club would like to thank the owner Chris for his support it means so much to have such a good sponsor behind our club. If any of our members or family require any kind of plastic trim, cladding, sealant, fixings, UPVC locks just to name a few, could you call in and have a look in the shop at the bottom of Milburn Road. For the first ever time second teams have been allowed to be promoted into Division 1 the old first team league.

Nov 18, 2013, 8:30 pm Held at Ashington Rugby Club, another good night with a great turn out from members family and friends. Big thank you to the Rugby Club for supporting our event by providing a compare and a tote manager. Awards Midweek Team Midweek Team finished 4th out of 8 team in the league Won the Midweek RE Wood Shield for the 6th time 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2013 Midweek Team 2013-Players Player Award-Matthew Tanney Midweek Team 2013 Bowler Award-Lewis Tanney 10 Wkts @ 18.30 Midweek Team 2013 Batsman Award- Matthew Tanney 268 Runs @ 53.60 (7 games) Special Award Matthew Tanney hit 103 Not Out in a 20 over game v Blyth 2nd Team 2nd Team finished 3rd out of 12 teams in the 2 Division amassing a huge 443 points winning 14 games only 4 points behind 2nd place, who played 2 more games that we did in the league. This being their 4th successive season in the top division for 2nd teams. We took 74 batting points and 74 bowling bonus points. 2nd Team 2013-Players Player Award-Graham Pattinson 2nd Team 2013 Bowler Award-David Wanless Snr 42 Wkts @ 9.86, best figures was 6 for 28 against Whitley Bay, Bowled 142.4 overs with 42 maidens. 1 – 5 wicket haul. 2nd Team 2013 Batsman Award-Michael Watson 484 Runs @ 32.27 Highest Score 73 against Stobswood, with 5 - 50s in 16 innings. Special Award David Wanless Snr Northumberland League bowler award for Division 2. 1st Team 1st Team finished 11th the Premier Division just holding onto their Premier Division league status; they finished with 6 wins and 3 of those came in the final 4 nerve racking games (nothing like putting us under pressure). We won 6 games 1 more than the team above us in the league and only 2 wins behind the team who finished 6th in the league, that’s why picking up your bonus points, is so important. We took 47 batting bonus points and 66 bowling points. Our season turned around in 3 consecutive weeks in August and start of September when we beat Kirkley away by 6 wickets, Warkworth at home by 4 wickets and a big scalp of Bates Cottages away by 3 wickets. 1st Team 2013-Players Player Award-Matthew Tanney 1st Team 2013 Bowler Award-Cory Milburn 39 Wkts @ 21.15, best figures was 7 for 33 against Warkworth, Bowled 204.4 overs with 28 maidens. 2 – 5 wicket hauls. 1st Team 2013 Batsman Award- Matthew Tanney 411 Runs @ 25.69, Highest Score 53 against Clara Vale, with 2 - 50s in 17 innings. Special Points of Note We had 2 players who represented the Northumberland Cricket League at under 21’s they are Lewis Tanney and Cory Milburn. We then had 1 player to represent the Northumberland Cricket League at Full Senior Level, this person is the first in our clubs history ever to achieve such a feat and that was Cory Milburn. Nov 15, 2013, 9:14 pm Sunday 10th November, Our grounds man removed our remaining germination sheets and cut down our square for the 2nd time since the end of season work, he left the grass length at 20mm in height and he also aerated the whole square, which is a must at this time of year. Nov 15, 2013, 9:10 pm On the 12th November, we played Ashington Under 17s we batted first and scored 151 with Lewis Tanney and Cory Milburn being the top scoring partnership. Ashington CC scored 86 for us to win by 65 runs. We next have Mitford CC both teams are unbeaten in the format and the winners will win this group. Nov 15, 2013, 9:06 pm On the 5th November we played our first game in this format against New Hartley at Ashington Sports Centre. New Hartley batted 1st and scored 112, we then batted and scored 193, with Ryan Hogg & Jonny Richards putting on a stand of 61 to help us win. |
