We would also like to thank Chris from K Plastic's who once again dipped into his pocket and supported the club by sponsoring the race night. A big thank you goes to the Rugby Club staff, Claire, Gordon, Claire and our race compare Pete O'Brien. Midweek Team Midweek Team finished 4th out of 8 teams in the league Midweek Team 2011-Players Player Award-Kevin Hetherington Midweek Team 2011 Bowler Award-David Wanless Snr 12 Wkts @ 13.58 Midweek Team 2011 Batsman Award-Kevin Hetherington 340 Runs @ 48.57 2nd Team 2nd Team finished 7th out of 11 teams in the B1 Division this being their 3rd season in this division, only 11 points from 5th place. We took 51 batting points and 35 bowling bonus points. We were defeated in the league cup final by a strong Blue Flames team with the game being played at Bedlington. 2nd Team 2011-Players Player Award-Bernard Tanney 2nd Team 2011 Bowler Award-David Wanless Jnr 17 Wkts @ 25.41 2nd Team 2011 Batsman Award-Ian Fox 188 Runs @ 18.80 1st Team 1st Team finished 2nd Division 1 and see's them go into the Premier League; they finished above a strong Kirkley team who were 9 points below them in 3rd place. We took 47 batting bonus points and 68 bowling points. We did not do to well in the cups we lost to the eventual winners Warkworth in the Wilson Cup all be it in interesting circumstances in the first round game at Warkworth, and lost in the Semi Finals to the eventual winners Monkseaton in our Divisional cup. Our season was turned around in 3 consecutive weeks in August and start of September when our bowlers did all the damage, this was at a time when we were equal bottom of the league; we had a foursome attack with a combined age of 194 years, yes a bit too old but they still good enough to do the damage, the main men were Dean Greaves (DG), David Wanless Snr and Trevor Elliott. We played; 2nd top Ulgham (away)and bowled them out for 39 runs; DG 13 overs, 7 wickets, 10 runs 4th top Monkeseaton (away) and we lost the toss and were asked to bowl and we bowled them out for 40 runs; DG 13 overs, 4 wickets, 16 runs. GEMS (home)we bowled them out for 28 DG 9 overs, 4 wickets, 13 runs. Big thank you to Jim (The Hoover) Peacock who treated our members with 3 bottles of bubbly. Dean Greaves walked away with the Division 1 League Bowler of the Year Award for his 50 wickets at an average of 8, he collected his trophy from former West Indian Cricket star Jimmy Adams who was the leagues guest speaker for the night. Dean also collected the runners up trophy for the 1st Division after a great finish from the 1st team snatching the runners up spot from Kirkley CC who ended up 3rd. Nov 13, 2011, 4:28 pm For all those who tried to guess the players and the venue he we go with the answers; Tank, Cory Milburn, Chris Harwood, Paul (safe hands) Richardson. Venue was Hebburn before the cup final where we played and lost to Heaton Park. Nov 6, 2011, 11:18 pm Sunday 6th November saw the start of the changing room upgrades at the "Rec" which are planned to take around 10 days; The Toilets - 3 New Toilets, 3 New Cubicles, 1 New Steel Urinal, 4 New Wash Hand Basins, new Anti Slip Flooring. The Showers - 15 New Time Controlled Showers Units, New Ventilation System, Wall Tiling and Anti Slip Flooring. Both rooms will be fully decorated to finsh them off, our Chariman has had a sneak preview on the work and he said he was very impressed. The Ashington Rugby Cricket Club and Ashington Rugby Club have been working tirelessly together this year in the back ground chasing funding to move this project on. This is just the start with the building, we are next looking to upgrade the large changing room which doubles up as a ladies/girls changing room which will support schools using our facilities. Nov 5, 2011, 12:35 am The Ruggy boys are attending this evening as normal we have 9 members showing their faces along with our clubs main sponsor Chris from Kplastics. Good food, plenty to drink and a laugh is on the agenda. Photos may appear later. Oct 2, 2011, 7:42 pm Our annual presentation/race night is to be held at the Rugby Club on Friday 18th November 2011 with a prompt 7 pm start doors open at 6.30pm. The event will be as normal with 4 races a quick presentation then 4 more races and finally a auction race to raise funds for our club, those looking to book taxis plan for after 11pm. All members are urged to make the effort to attend and to bring along friends and family the more the merrier. Members who are yet to name their horses please contact your Chairman ASAP so he can orgainse the race programe. This is a one off event and is a great night so we hope to see you all there, and that includes you the veterans come along and meet the new generation. Come on the ASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
