Big thank you to Wilkinson's of Ashington, who awarded our club a £40 voucher from their Helping Hands Community Fund.

We purchased a large 6 Ltr slow cooker and a 1.8 Ltr rice cooker and steamer, just what we needed to help with our tea's on a cold day.

Thank you Wilkinsons for your support.

Last Man Standing "We Have a Winner"
Jan 22, 2021, 5:30 pm

After two rollers we now have a winner that lucky person is Callum Milburn, walks away the prize pot of £630, not bad for a £10 entry, with a nice sum riased for our club.

Three people were left in, one had Wolves to beat West Brom and they lost 3 -2, the other had Leeds to win and they lost 1 -0 at home.

Callum had Spurs to win and they did 2 - 0 thus giving him the prize pot.

If you would like to join give Chris Harwood a ring.

COVID-19 update on cricket in England and Wales

This statement applies to changes in England following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 4 January of new national lockdown restrictions.

Wales continues to remain in a national lockdown since 19 December with all cricket activity suspended with a review expected later this week.

In England, ECB can confirm that unfortunately all indoor and outdoor privately owned cricket facilities will now need to close for all but elite cricket activity and disability cricket outdoors.

Cricket clubs in public open spaces such as parks can continue to provide outdoor spaces for individual permitted activity.

The Government has confirmed that:

You can exercise in a public outdoor place:

  • by yourself
  • with the people you live with
  • with your support bubble (if you are legally permitted to form one)
  • in a childcare bubble where providing childcare
  • or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household

Public outdoor places include:

  • parks, beaches, countryside accessible to the public, forests
  • public gardens (whether or not you pay to enter them)
  • the grounds of a heritage site
  • playgrounds

Any public outdoor place used for permitted individual cricket exercise activity should be suitable and safe for the type of cricket activity taking place. You must ensure that you have sought and gained permission to use facilities in a public open space and that it is safe to do so. If a club or local authority have closed cricket facilities within a public open space they should not be used.

There is a risk that during the winter both natural turf cricket squares and non-turf surfaces can be damaged when wet, frozen or snow-covered. These conditions also increase injury risk to participants.

Furthermore, essential safety equipment such as netting may have been removed. Therefore, facilities should not be used unless they are safe and will not be damaged. Where cricket can take place, adequate measures must be taken to keep warm and minimise injury risk, including to other members of the public sharing the open space. You should be considerate to other users of the public open space.

You can also continue to go to work if your work cannot be undertaken from home. So people employed or volunteering to work on grounds maintenance over the winter can continue to do so subject to suitable COVID risk assessment and control measures being in place. Further information on winter maintenance of cricket grounds under COVID can be found on the Grounds Management Association website.

Guidance for Cricket Indoors

Please see the updated guidelines for cricket indoors, these can be viewed for England and Wales by clicking the buttons below.

The purpose of these guidelines is to offer practical guidance to venues, coaching providers and clubs on the steps they should take while undertaking cricket indoors. They should be read in conjunction with latest UK and Welsh Government regulations but please note these guidelines could change in response to the current COVID-19 Alert Level or other Government advice in both areas. It is essential that venues, coaching providers and clubs follow the guidance for their particular country, as the updates are different between England and Wales.

In order to keep cricket going as it moves indoors, there will need to be adaptations in place for all, including venues, coaching providers, players, parents/carers, spectators and officials. Those adaptations relate to activity prior to, during and after cricket activity.

A summary of the adaptations is listed below but please read the full guidance documents for both England and Wales for comprehensive details.

Venues, Coaching Providers, Clubs and Participants

• Read the new updated guidance (relevant to their country) and familiarise themselves with new guidance on group size restrictions, face coverings and recording participant information for contact tracing schemes (the principal changes).

• Follow the updated sections in the checklists

• Revisit and republish their risk assessments

• Revisit communications and operational  plans with venues, coaching providers, clubs and participants

Supporting Documents

In relation to England: Checklists for venue operators and coaching providers and clubs and a risk assessment template are all available.

In relation to Wales: Checklists for venue operators and coaching providers and clubs and a risk assessment template are all available.

All of these documents can also be accessed in the ECB Resource Hub here. A reminder to create an account if you have not done so already.

It's a Rollover.

Following the last two members left in the LMS and both selecting Leicester to win at home against Fulham and they lost 2 -1, it is now a second rollover with the prize pot now standing at nice £640.

Remember to get your team to Chris Harwood before Friday's night game.
