May 9, 2008, 3:18 pm

The 1st & 2nd teams will hope to get their league seasons up & running on Saturday after last weeks washed out double header against Stobswood with both teams taking on Civil Service.  The 1st XI making the long trip to Riding Mill

Team News

Midge Adamson will finally making his debut for the 1st's and Dean Hardy returns after missing Tuesday's win at Blagdon.  Callum Milburn & Rob Clark return to the 2nd's buoyed by good contributions on Tuesday night.

Steve Henderson takes charge of the 2nd's for the first time since taking over from the now retired Northern legend Nigel Little snr in an unchanged side from the one that would have played last weekend.  He will be hoping his youthful side can return to the B1 division after being unfortunately relegated on the final day of last season

1st XI beat Blagdon in thriller
May 9, 2008, 3:17 pm

The 1st team got their season underway on with tight win over Blagdon at sun bathed Blagdon Hall on Tuesday night.

All the top order contributed in a total of 86 for 7 with skipper Harwood top scoring with 24 from 23 balls in addition to some lusty hitting from Paul Milburn and Ian Fox.

The Blagdon innings got off to a becalmed start with wides making most of the scoring.  However once opening bowlers Greaves and Richards found their line and length the scoring rate dropped and wickets began to fall on a regular basis.

After Milburn and Matty Storey took over bowling duties further wickets fell until Blagdon were left needing upwards of 10 an over off 3.  Despite a valiant attempt by skipper Forster and in particular Greg Senior the Northern held on to win by 2 runs and set up a visit to Warkworth in the next round

1st XI take on Blagdon
May 5, 2008, 8:58 am
After Saturday's home game against old rivals Stobswood was called off due to flooding on the outfield the 1st's hope to get their season underway against Blagdon at Blagdon park on Tuesday night in the Thomas Wilson Memorial Cup.

The prize for the victors is likely to be a trip to Warkworth (should they overcome New Hartley) and the opportunity to play at one of Northumberlands best and most picturesque grounds against one of the Premier Leagues big hitters!

The club are looking to build on recent improved dispays in 20 over cricket after twice reaching the final of the divisional competion in the the last couple of years.

Team News

Michael 'Midge' Adamson may make his debut ironically against one of his former clubs should he return from holiday in time.  Dean Hardy is working and Martin Seccombe on holiday also so Ian Fox Retains his place and Rob Clark is promoted from the 2nd's after impressing in a recent friendly.  County junior Callum Milburn is on stand by to make his 1st team debut should Adamson not make it!

A New Season Begins
Apr 28, 2008, 6:21 pm
After the Premier League starting last Saturday, its our turn to don the three extra layers of clothing and embrace the early May weather.

Both teams are to play local rivals Stobswood with the 1st team having home advantage at the Rec. First ball being bowled at 1:30pm

The club have received the sad news that Graham Whitworth has decided to leave the club and return to Ashington. The commitee would like to thank "Flinty" for his time at the club and wish him luck with the Colliers.

After a review of last seasons results, it seems like Division One is to be closely contested this term. We competed well against Blagdon, Monkseaton and Civil Service last year as well as two games against Stobswood being rained off. If we can convert these performances into match winning one's, we should have a successful summer.
